As part of the venerable 99x series, the 992 is part of a legacy of innovation, performance, comfort and a refined, timeless sense of style. Originally released in 2006 during New Balance’s centenary celebrations, the 992 introduced a new form of the brand’s patented ABZORB cushioning, ABZORB SBS, which utilized non-cellular elastomer, rather than traditional foam rubber, allowing for peak performance over a longer period of use.

While even the more recent additions to the 99x series always keep one foot in the aesthetic of '90s design, a new made in the USA edition opts for an even stronger flavor of the decade's sportswear. The high visibility yellow, red, and navy blue palette that made the era's technically oriented sportswear stand out so memorably. 

The shoe's mesh uppers and cut-out suede overlays are outfitted in monochrome yellow, with black suede at the mudguard and tongue, and deep red lacing offering a prominent contrast. The ABZORB midsole also features a red, white, and blue motif, as a nod to the made in the USA construction.
